VP of Business Development
Berkeley Yeast is seeking an experienced VP of Business Development to build relationships with the largest global breweries, wineries, and distilleries. The successful candidate will be a senior leader who will source and evaluate promising new partnership opportunities, make recommendations to leadership, and negotiate agreements to support partnerships and collaboration activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Work strategically to identify, qualify and establish potential licensing partners
- Prepare and deliver pitches and presentations to new leads
- Expand relationships with current customers in addition to developing relationships with new customers
- Develop and negotiate licensing agreements with large corporates, regional breweries, and large wineries
- Assist in negotiation of research agreements and contracting in relation to intellectual property
- Work with leadership to sync R&D program with needs of industry and specific partners
- Coordinate with sales & marketing team to ensure alignment on key goals, activities, and other BD activities
- Maintain pulse on market trends and changes in the industry to inform strategy
Desired Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in business development
- Strong track record closing royalty-bearing licensing deals
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
- Experience selling products into fermented beverage industry
- Experience in synthetic biology, biotech, or pharma industries
- Experience driving adoption of new technologies in a startup environment
- Basic knowledge of intellectual property desirable
