Scientist I

We’re currently looking for a Scientist to help build novel beer yeast strains with desirable flavor and performance profiles. You will work collaboratively to design and genetically incorporate biosynthetic pathways, plus utilize a variety of biochemical and analytical methods to inform strain performance and pathway optimization. Key Responsibilities
— Independently design and conduct research to develop new beer yeast strains with desirable flavor or performance profiles
— Develop and execute analytical methods to quantify biosynthetic targets and precursors
— Work collaboratively with a research team to achieve complex project goals
— Supervise junior researchers and foster their scientific growth
— Document experimental findings and communicate research progress to internal and external parties
Required Qualifications
— PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, bioengineering, or a related field
— Experience with molecular cloning techniques
— Undergraduate coursework or research in organic chemistry and / or analytical chemistry (please specify)
Highly Desirable Qualifications
— Experience with developing and executing GC-MS and / or LC-MS methods to profile small molecules
— Experience with microbial culture, transformation, and / or fermentation
Compensation and Benefits
— Compensation range: $85,000-$100,000 per year (compensation commensurate with education and experience)
